The Art of Embodiment and Conscious Communication in Somatic Consent
~ Do you struggle to say no, or feel weighted down by what you feel others expect of you?
~ Are you feeling unheard, burnout, unsupported, or fed-up with feeling expected to “do it all”, always having to put others needs/wants first?
~ Do you feel like you keep repeating dis-empowering patterns or unhealthy dynamics in your relationships that you don’t know how to change, or like you keep having to go against yourself to prevent confrontation?
~ Do you struggle with vulnerable feelings, or feel unworthy of having your deepest needs met?
~ Do you find yourself habitually disassociated or numb, or that it’s difficult to know what you want or know how to give yourself permission to make empowering choices for yourself?
~ Has that ‘magic-spark’ disappeared in your relationship, or is intimacy feeling dull, awkward, confusing, or non-existant?
~ Do you want to learn to be more about the healing power of conscious, consensual touch?
~ Do you want to expand your capacity for intimacy and have more fulfilling connections with people in your life?
~ Do you want to learn ways to train your nervous system so you can empower yourself by taking action for yourself and what you want to create in the world and in your relationships?
If you are a yes to any of the above then you are invited to participate in this training to begin a life-changing journey in learning how to rewire yourself and your capacity to feel and notice. This helps you become more empowered, and more conscious in your relating. This is applicable in all relationships – firstly with yourself, then family, friends, colleagues and of course in intimate relating with partners/lovers.
“The 85-year Harvard Study of Adult Development has unequivocally demonstrated that positive relationships are the number one determining factor for overall health, well-being, longevity and happiness” – Fleet Maull, Phd
The basic human need for intimacy and connection:
Having a feeling of belonging, intimacy and authentic connection with others is a basic human need. Consequently, positive social interaction and healthy relationships with ourselves and then others is paramount. If we are not having healthy fulfilling relationships, our sense of self and our place in the world can become confusing, dis-empowering, and overwhelming. However when we feel seen, met, heard and supported; we feel more capable and resourceful to cope with life’s demands and challenges.
What blocks healthy relating?
Until we start to bring conscious awareness to how we relate with ourselves and others, we only have available the default conditioning and unconscious survival mechanisms we have learnt in our past to navigate from. This is the basis of much of the confusing, grey-water of relating that many people find themselves entangled in at times. Unfortunately, this form of relating causes unnecessary conflict and hurt between people; creating misunderstandings and loss of connection by projecting what we think is true for the other, whilst not knowing how to be clear about our limits, wants and needs. This is detrimental to having nourishing, fulfilling, authentic connections with others.
Thankfully, there is now a solution 😀 Practising and embodying the clarity of engagement shared in this training, and the precision of language and communication skills this requires, helps you to learn to be responsible for your behaviours, to rewire neurologically, and to change an outdated paradigm of relating so your interactions can become more clear, honest, and direct.
“Until we bring light to our unconscious behaviours, we cannot know how they are limiting us or interfering in our relationship with ourselves or others.” – Teertha
Programmed beliefs, Shadow behaviours:
We’ve all learnt unconscious survival mechanisms to help us through difficult experiences and moments of dis-empowerment in life, particularly in relating with others.
When you learn how to become aware of – and bring light to – your unconscious behaviours, and to the somatic affects they have on you; this helps you to stop overriding yourself and your feelings so you can make choices in your relating with others that can feel more empowering. This helps you to become aware of the physiological and psychological affects that power dynamics and conditioning to conform to peer pressure or social expectations have on you.
Bringing light to the unconscious survival behaviours such as fawning, people pleasing and enduring, helps you to restore your personal power.
What happens in this training?
In this experiential training you are invited on a journey; combining theory along with practical exercises and games that give you an opportunity to practice and embody the theory.
The structure of this training is created so you can learn in a way that feels safe and supported.
We break down what is happening in relating, learning;
~ how to feel into the subtleties and clearing confusion about who’s giving and who’s receiving in an interaction, and who’s receiving the gift of it
~ the communication skills required to keep that clear and conscious.
~ how to become aware of your personal conditioning and unconscious behaviours
~ develop somatic awareness
~ learn about the nervous system, honour self-care, and learn how to break free from your conditioning to expand your comfort zone for new experiences in a way that feels safe and empowering
~ how to rewire yourself for new experiences. Even if that is just learning how to give yourself permission to say no!
This training helps to create the foundations of learning in how to reflect honestly with yourself; bring light to your unconscious behaviours and relating dynamics; and learn to be more conscious and aware in all of your interactions with others.
There is nothing compulsory in this training. You are fully participating even if you chose to say no to any practical exercises. Your ability to feel into, listen to, and chose what is right for you in each moment is the core of this work. This is where the deepest learning is.
The only rule in this training is you are not allowed to override or go against yourself, or others! Some of the practical exercises involve the invitation for consensual touch – however you can still fully participate in this training without touching or being touched by anyone. Your ability to choose what is right for you is most important. There is no nudity or sexual touch welcome in this workshop.
At the start of the training, we make an agreement around confidentiality so that everyone can feel it is a safe and confidential space. After the training you can share anything about your own experience, or anything I (as the facilitator) mention. However the agreement is that you do not mention any of the other participants names, or anything another participant shares or discusses about themselves or their personal experience. If you do not feel you can honour that agreement, do not attend this training.
This training teaches you how to:
~ develop somatic awareness – self discovery and the art of embodiment
~ grow neurologically and rewire your capacity to notice and to feel
~ the importance of conscious self-care, including tools for self-regulation and co-regulation
~ think less and feel more – quieting the mental noise/chatter mind
~ listen deeply and honestly to wants, needs, desires and limits (in yourself and others)
~ stop over-ridding yourself to please others
~ differentiate between what you want, and what you are willing to do
~ be with vulnerable feelings, and learn how to communicate them clearly
~ what is necessary for real intimacy to be felt/experienced
~ how to deepen your capacity for intimacy with self and then others
~ speak up for the parts of you that feel neglected/ignored/abandoned
~ activate more oxytocin and release more “feel good” healing chemicals in your body
~ become more present, clear, honest and direct in your communication
~ stay in contact with yourself, even when relating with others
~ stop losing yourself in the other’s wants/needs/possible judgments)
~ find tools to help empower you in all your relationships – partners, lovers, family, fiends and work colleagues.
~ find fun ways to expand your comfort zone for deeper levels of connection
~ become more conscious in your touch
~ become clear about the gift that you are, what you are willing to do, and what you really want in relation to others

What some previous participants have to say after participating in this training:
John, Limerick:
“lf anyone is in any doubt about the transformative power of the somatic consent workshop I would be more than happy to recount my own experience and proffer my most enthusiastic and heartfelt recommendation.
Thank you Teertha”.
Rebecca, Cork:
“I have been on a healing journey for the past 10 years and this workshop has definitely been one of the best decisions I have made in my quest to understand myself more, release trauma, learned conditioning, and heal. I was a bit nervous about attending the workshop but was immediately put at ease by Teertha’s presence. She is a beautiful woman and a kind soul who has an innate ability to understand and help others reach their true potential and embody their light.
The principles of the workshop were brought to life in many fun and engaging practices that Teertha seemed to organise on an intuitive level. It made me realise how out of touch I have been in my body over the past while. I felt stimulated and energised as I explored myself and the environment in a way I would have never thought of doing before this beautiful weekend. I felt feelings and sensations that I have not felt for some time but have been longing for. The exercises encouraged me to challenge myself, connect to my desires, and ask for what I truly want. I also learned to truly listen to and respect the boundaries of others without taking it personally or feeling like I was somehow at fault.
This workshop has made me realise how much I have been missing human connection and touch and has been a catalyst for me to invite more fun and love into my life. It has brought my attention to old patterns and worn-out ways of being that are no longer serving me or anyone else. Despite all the education I have received and the books I have read, nothing has topped the learning I have gained from this weekend. It is a teaching that has been ingrained and one that I am sure will stay with me forevermore. I can already see a change in my communication and connection with others, and I am pleased to notice how challenging relationships in my life are beginning to heal. The only thing I regret is that I did not do this sooner so thank you Teertha, and thank you also to all the other beautiful souls who I had the pleasure to meet and work with over the weekend. 10/10!“
Joyce, Dublin:
“I recently took part in a training in Cork with Teertha, the art of consent choice and communication. As always with Teertha, from the word go I felt very comfortable and safe, even though it was a content I felt a bit unsure about at the beginning. But I have to say, it was amazing and so empowering! Teertha is a wonderful teacher and makes the space feel very safe and is always at hand to help and to make sure that everything is explained in a way that when we leave and go home, we can carry the training with us and simply apply the tools into life. With Teertha teaching it, I would not hesitate to recommend this training to everyone I meet. I look forward to going deeper in the future with my amazing teacher Teertha. Thank you. Yours sincerely, Joyce.
Daithi, West Cork:
“Working with Teertha has been some of the most important personal development I’ve done to date and the most beautiful gift I could have ever given myself. Although I recognise I’m a work in progress, I remain on the pathway to becoming the man I want to be and look forward to beginning a new journey with her this May. Le Grá, DaithaÍ”
Jonelle, Cork:
“The somatic consent weekend workshop with Teertha was ostensibly about creating safe space to explore consensual, platonic touch – and it was this. The exercises in touch exploration were playful, challenging, delightful, deep and nourishing. The room was frequently flooded in oxytocin… But, in combination with the theory that was offered and very clearly articulated by Teertha throughout, touch became the playground for exploring and embodying the basic principles of self-responsibility and sovereignty, healthy relating and communicating, connecting with and expressing personal truth, desire and boundaries – and for experiencing each of these as part of the inextricably woven web of being a human in healthy, reciprocal, and pleasurable relationship and community with other humans.
This should be basic life learning from very early childhood, but our culture is so far from this reality. I experienced a deep grief, at the end of the workshop, for the tragedy of this, especially having witnessed throughout the weekend how quickly and profoundly this work sets in for people, when safety is cultivated and the invitation is present.
On top of this grief, I also felt an even deeper relief for having experienced how it might all be possible. I have no doubt that this work has the potential to transform culture.
Teertha is a skilled facilitator. She lives what she teaches, communicates crystal clearly, and cultivates an extraordinarily safe space for the exploration that this work requires. I plan on delving deeper into this work, and would highly recommend this workshop to literally anybody (needless to say!)”.
The consent weekend with Teertha was a very informative, deepening of my tool box for techniques for a better future. I can be very independent and feel I have all the tools I need, yet in some situations I kept making the same mistakes or engaging with the same dynamics. This weekend fine tuned techniques I had and greater informed the reason why they worked.
The intimacy we developed over the weekend within our group was also such an inspiration and an expression of Teertha’s skill to facilitate and guide a group of strangers towards openness and deep trust.
Teertha’s teaching model is very focused and easy to digest, punctuated with her own personal life stories of obstacles and victories as the consent work embedded itself into her self care programme.
Illustrations of each stage are written and explained so visuals as well as games help the information given to be absorbed.
I would highly recommend this work as essential in helping relationships with both self and others to bloom and flourish. Healthy boundaries create space to expand into a safer space of open hearted connection.
